07.16.2025 – Receiver Dynamic Range
Paul White (K3UWY) provides a comprehensive overview of the factors influencing the performance of HF radio receivers. It explains dynamic range as the ability to detect weak signals in the presence of strong ones, emphasizing the importance of spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR), noise figure, and intermodulation distortion.

06.17.2025 – MARCI Field Day 2025
A major annual amateur radio event focused on emergency preparedness and public outreach. It emphasizes the importance of operating under non-commercial power, using various antennas and modes (including digital), and engaging new and prospective hams through the GOTA (Get On The Air) station.

03.17.2025 Steve Park, W4OEP, entitled “The “Art” of VHF/UHF Radio Communications for New Operators.” Attached is a PDF copy of Steve’s PowerPoint presentation. I have also attached a PDF of a 2015 presentation that was passed along to me by MARCI member Joseph Gray, N3LMV, that he had previously put together for the Marple Newton (PA) Amateur Radio Club. I hope that the attachments provide some insight to those of you who might be new VHF/UHF radio operators. Feel free to drop me a note or give me a call if you have any questions.

The presentation highlights three main propagation modes: line of sight, groundwave, and skywave.
